Micro was founded in 1996 by Sveinn Sigurðsson and Steinn Árni Ásgeirsson. They met during their studies in Iðnskólinn (Technical collage) and after a short time working together in the industry, they decided to established their own company.

In the early days the company was mainly servicing Icelandic fishing vessels but has since grown to a high-tech solution company with over 40 employees.
