The drum rotates in both clockwise and counter clockwise. The fish enters the clockwise rotating drum for a specific time period until it stops and rotates in the counter clockwise direction. A hatch then opens and the raw material exits the drum. The fish scale falls out through holes and down on a draining pan.
The doors have sensors that cut the electricity to the motor when opened.
